PREPARATION

Easter We prepare for Easter during the 40 days of Lent, which parallel the time Christ spent in the Wilderness preparing for his work on earth. Lent begins with Ash Wednesday, when we joined our Anglican friends at St. Barnabas for their special morning service

LENT STUDY GROUPS

Easter Each Tuesday evening in Lent at 7.30, we host a study group of Pound Hill Christians, looking at our lifestyles though a course called ‘Attitudes’, and considering how they match up to the radical teaching of Jesus in what are called ‘The Beautitudes’. The group is led by our own minister, the Revd Bridget Banks, and the vicars from St.Barnabas and St.Nicholas.
Preceeding that, from 6.30 to 7.15, the church is open to all who wish to drop in and spend some time quietly relaxing, meditating, or praying. During January at this time, we suggested people might like to think about the troubled areas of the world, particularly Zimbabwe, one of the areas of charitable giving on which the United Reformed Church concentrates. Several local people from Zimbabwe came in to join us.
